DEVON, Pa. - Since its inception in 1896, the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair has stood as a beacon of equestrian excellence and social tradition on Philadelphia's prestigious Main Line. As the oldest and largest outdoor multi-breed equestrian competition in the United States, Devon has spent over a century cultivating traditions that extend far beyond the show ring. Among its most storied and highly anticipated events is the annual Ladies Day, a cherished gathering dating back to the early 1900s that beautifully bridges the gap between historical elegance and modern-day glamour.

Originally reminiscent of a bygone era when afternoon tea and tiny sandwiches were served to spectators, Ladies Day has organically grown into a spectacular showcase of fashion, creativity, and community. Held each spring, the event transforms the iconic Devon blue show grounds into a vibrant runway, drawing hundreds of women dressed in their sartorial best. The undisputed centerpiece of the day is the iconic Ladies Hat Contest, where attendees compete in whimsical and elegant categories such as Best in Show, Best Hat to Toe, and Most Fascinating. Over the decades, the extravagant millinery displays and surprise celebrity judges have become a signature of the Devon experience, attracting generations of families who consider the event a rite of spring. Furthermore, the legacy of Ladies Day is deeply intertwined with the event's philanthropic mission, supporting the Devon Horse Show's longstanding partnership with Bryn Mawr Hospital, which has been the sole beneficiary of the country fair since 1919.

This year's festivities proved that the celebrated tradition is only growing more spectacular with age. The ladies of Devon donned their finest dress for the annual hat contest and Ladies Day Luncheon. From guest judge Carson Kressley to fashions that brought Retro Runway (this year's theme) to life, the day was a true red-carpet celebration! Participants walked the grounds in their favorite vintage-era ensembles, ranging from chic mod silhouettes to elegant pillbox hats, proving once again that the Devon Horse Show's Ladies Day remains a timeless celebration of style and enduring equestrian legacy.
