DEVON, Pa. - The 130th Devon Horse Show and Country Fair delivered thrilling competition and historic triumphs this week, highlighted by a rare tie for the Devon Grand Hunter Championship and a repeat international jumping victory under the lights of the iconic Dixon Oval.
In the hunter ring, Victoria Colvin rode to a remarkable shared victory for the 2026 Devon Grand Hunter Championship, piloting two standout mounts to a tie for the prestigious title. Colvin guided John and Stephanie Ingram, LLC’s Oldenburg mare Odette and Lynn Olson’s Oldenburg gelding In The End to exactly 46 points each over two days of competition. Odette set the tone early by sweeping all four over fences classes to secure the High Performance Conformation Hunter Championship. Colvin praised the mare's relentless competitive spirit, noting, “She's the coolest mare. She wants to win. She goes in and tries to win every time.” Meanwhile, In The End delivered an equally impressive performance despite his lack of experience. Colvin, who was showing the young gelding for only the second time, was thrilled with his demeanor. “He's young, but he didn't seem to care about anything. He really was perfect and didn't do anything wrong this week,” she said. Reflecting on the significance of her success at the historic venue, Colvin added, “Devon, of course, is a very special horse show. Everybody comes here, and it's one of the main horse shows and a big focus of the year.”
As the sun set, the excitement carried over into the international jumping competition, where McKayla Langmeier and Rafferty Farm's Pepita VD Rollebeek captured their second consecutive victory of the week by winning the FEI $32,000 Main Line Challenge. Fresh off a win in Tuesday’s Jet Run Devon Welcome Stake, the pair bested a field of thirty horse-and-rider combinations from five different countries. Navigating a challenging two-phase course designed by Ireland's Colm Quinn, Langmeier and the Belgian Warmblood mare delivered the fastest of fourteen double-clear performances, stopping the clock in a blistering 31.96 seconds. Following the victory, Langmeier admitted the pressure of the opening round. “The first phase always makes me the most nervous,” she shared. “It's always disappointing if you have a rail in the first phase. I trusted the plan I walked and trusted my horse.” She affectionately described her mount as a jack of all trades. “She's done everything with me,” Langmeier explained. “Derbies, Grand Prix classes. She's my third-ranking horse and a vital part of my team.”
For Langmeier, achieving such success at Devon carries a deep personal significance. “This horse show has been running for so long, and it has such a great atmosphere,” she remarked. “Winning here brings me back to my whole family being here when I was a junior, from the ponies to the equitation. It's really special to win here.” The unique environment of the Dixon Oval adds to the magic of the event for competitors. “You have the crowd right there, so there's a ton of atmosphere,” Langmeier continued. “Everyone dresses up, and it's just a fun show to walk into the ring for.” As she looks toward the upcoming Grand Prix competition, Langmeier expressed immense gratitude, stating, “I'm just very proud of my horse and my team behind me for making this happen.”
