Emily Barkann Appointed Chief White House Correspondent

WASHINGTON - AKSM News is pleased to announce that Emily Barkann will join the White House Correspondents Team effective immediately as Chief White House Correspondent replacing Garrett Whitton in the role after it was announced that Whitton would be transferring to CBS News.

Barkann will also host a new show titled, Emily @ the White House, which will replace Whitton’s Nothing But The Facts show and will provide viewers a behind the scenes and inside look into the Biden Administration and their policies. Barkann's assignment is a part of a larger plan to expand Nova Nighty's coverage of the Executive Branch. Additional assignments are slated to be announced in the Fall.

Barkann previously worked as an Associate Producer at NFL Films where her work on the show NFL 100 Greatest & All-Time Team won her a 2020 National Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Trans-Media Sports Coverage. Barkann's work also appeared on multiple programs including HBO’s Emmy-Award nominated show, Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Oakland Raiders and Showtime’s Inside the NFL.

Senior White House Producer Annabel Mack said, "Emily is a determined and experienced journalistic professional who we are excited to welcome to the White House team! Emily's background speaks for itself and we are more than thrilled to see what she will accomplish at the White House."

Originally from Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, Barkann graduated from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 2019 with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism and minors in Political Science and Sports Management. Barkann graduated in 2022 with a Master's Degree in Political Science from Villanova University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. In August, Barkann will begin pursuing a Juris Doctor degree while serving as Chief White House Correspondent.
