2025 Easter Address by Andrew McKeough

Happy Easter to each of you.
Today, as we gather in the light of renewal and hope, we are reminded of Easter’s deepest gifts: a love that conquers fear, a hope that outlasts sorrow, and a forgiveness that heals what once seemed broken beyond repair.
Easter teaches us that the hardest things in life — betrayal, loss, regret — are not the end of the story. Forgiveness is not only possible; it is transformative. And just as the stone was rolled away, we are invited to roll away the burdens we carry — resentments, regrets, the pain of words unspoken or moments missed — and walk forward lighter, freer, more open to love.
This season also speaks to the gift of friendship. Real friendship is resurrection in action. It’s the people who show up when you’re in the tomb of your own grief, doubt, or weariness — and stay, gently, until you’re ready to rise again. We all need those people. And we can all be those people.
Today is also personally meaningful for me. It would have been my father’s 86th birthday. He was a man of quiet strength, a steady compass in times when I needed direction, and someone who taught me — often through his example — how to forgive, how to listen, and how to show up for others. I miss him and Mom deeply, especially on days like this. But I find comfort in knowing that the love they gave me is still alive — in my choices, in my friendships, in how I try to meet the world with kindness and grace.
So this Easter, I invite you to think of the people in your life who have loved you into who you are. And if there is a hurt lingering in your heart — whether it’s something you did, or something done to you — let this be the season you take one step closer to healing it. That is the power of Easter. It is never too late to make things right. It is never too late to forgive. And it is never too late to love again.
May this day bring you peace. May it bring you joy. And may the memory of those we’ve lost remind us to cherish those we still have.
Wishing you and your family a happy Easter. May God bless you.
